NBC stood well above the competition last night care of the crossover between “Law & Order: SVU” (Viewers: #1 for the night: 7.63 million; A18-49: #1 for the night: 1.6 rating/10 share at 9 p.m. ET) and the series premiere of spinoff “Law & Order: Organized Crime” (Viewers: #1: 7.56 million; A18-49: #1, 1.5/11 at 10 p.m.).

Earlier in the evening on NBC was the season premiere of drama “Manifest” at 3.83 million viewers (#2) and a 0.6/ 4 (#3t) in the Thursday 8 p.m. hour.

• Gains: +3.062 million viewers (+39%), +0.76 adults 18-49 rating (+49%)

Also debuting was new Chuck Lorre sitcom “The United States of Al” on CBS at 5.07 million viewers (#1) and a 0.5/ 4 in adults 18-49 (#4) at 8:30 p.m. Comparably, the retention out of lead-in “Young Sheldon” (Viewers: #1, 6.40 million; A18-49: #3t, 0.6/ 5) was positive at 79 percent in total viewers and 83 percent in the demo.

In time period premiere news was CBS comedy “B Positive” at a modest 3.69 million viewers (#3) and a 0.4/ 3 in adults 18-49 (#3) at 9:30 p.m. (out of 4.79 million viewers and a 0.5/ 3 in the demo for “Mom” at 9 p.m.). In other words: CBS’ once robust Thursday comedy block mirrors the overall audience erosion on broadcast television.

At 10 p.m., both “A Million Little Things” on CBS (Viewers: #2, 2.56 million; A18-49: #2, 0.4/ 3) and “Clarice” on CBS (Viewers: #3, 2.40 million; A18-49: #3, 0.3/ 2) paled in comparison to NBC’s competing “Law & Order: SVU.” Chances of a second season for “Clarice” are unlikely.

Clarice (CBS)

• Live+3: 4.516 million viewers, 0.54 adults 18-49 rating
• Gains: +2.146 million viewers (+91%), +0.30 adults 18-49 rating (+125%)

In season premiere news was Fox comedy “The Moodys” at a mere 1.03 million viewers (#4) and a 0.2/ 2 (#4) in adults 18-49 at 9 p.m. Comparably, that was less than half the audience of lead-in “Hell’s Kitchen” (Viewers: #4, 2.49 million; A18-49: #1t, 0.7/ 5).

Elsewhere, ABC’s veteran “Grey’s Anatomy” (Viewers: #3, 4.10 million; A18-49: #2, 0.8/ 5) took a backseat to NBC’s competing “Law & Order: SVU.” Lead-in “Station 19” (Viewers: #2, 4.46 million; A18-49: #1t, 0.7/ 5 at 8 p.m.) was at typical fast affiliate levels.
